Integrated Development

Since its inception in 1990, Rucore has followed a holistic and ecologically integrated approach to development and sustainability. Rucore initially started working with permaculture, a design system that builds connections between water, soil, plants, animals, structures and energy systems that align with the flows and forces in nature. Over the past seven years we have incorporated integral theory into our practice as a way of linking, leveraging, correlating, and aligning the multiplicity of often contradictory worldviews, methodologies and perspectives. This approach helps us build improved solutions in the field that connect for instance water, sanitation, health issues and indigenous knowledge with food security, energy needs, environmental degradation and local economic development in a coherent integrated strategy.
